WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. appeals courtroom on Friday rejected an emergency bid by TikTok to quickly block a legislation that might require its Chinese language dad or mum firm ByteDance to divest the short-video app by Jan. 19 or face a ban.
TikTok and ByteDance on Monday filed the emergency movement with the U.S. Courtroom of Appeals for the District of Columbia, asking for extra time to make its case to the U.S. Supreme Courtroom.
The businesses warned that with out courtroom motion the legislation will “shut down TikTok — one of many nation’s hottest speech platforms — for its greater than 170 million home month-to-month customers.”
